Our History
In 1945, Americans began reclaiming their lives following World War ll; twelve million returning from military service to their dreams of peace. The very work ethic and commitment that had seen them through such seemingly insurmountable odds turned to rebuild a domestic economy. Coined “The Greatest Generation” by Tom Brokaw (Random House, 1998), these men and women fueled the engines of commerce with common sense, service and dedication. With practical resolve, new companies like WOLCOTT’S were born and became the benefactors of this ethic.
It was in this atmosphere that our company was born. Experience gained from working for American Optical and encouragement from his wife Marva allowed Vern Wolcott to pursue his own American Dream. Younger brother Harvey eagerly joined Vern in this venture and side by side they built Wolcott Optical Service. The dedication of Vern & Marva, Harvey and his wife Maxine to superior service is the cornerstone of our business in Salt Lake City, UT.
